A group of 20 dairy farmers from Latvia, with a total of 4,500 cows, visited Galicia to visit different farms that work with robotic milking. They come from a country with a high number of dairy cows and the visit was organized by their dairy control. Every year they make these trips with the purpose of knowing how is the management of the farms in other countries and also the productions.
On this occasion, during the visit to Galicia they were able to visit Explotaciones Ferreiro SL and Casa Eiras, both are partner farms of AIRA and where the cooperative manages the feeding. In the case of Explotaciones Ferreiro is located in Abrairas, Baleira (Lugo) and has 250 cows that are milked in four robots. Casa Eiras, from Cebreiro in O Pino (A Coruña), has 160 cows being milked and has three robots, the last one was incorporated in January and until then they milked 150 cows on two robots.
AIRA was able to present to the visitors the feeding management system that was developed by the technical feeding team of the cooperative for robotic herds. The particularity of this management is that it adapts to any brand of machinery and pays attention to the milking times and the efficiency of the machine based on liters of milk per minute.
In both cases, the unifeed mix is made on-farm with concentrates that are supplied by AIRA and designed by AIRA’s technical staff, who work hand in hand with the farmers.
